More than 25,000 residents have been displaced from their homes in Linn County, Iowa, as a result of the devastating June floods. Hundreds of businesses are either damaged or destroyed and not able to function. The massive clean up and rebuilding efforts are underway and many community needs exist and will emerge in the coming weeks, months and years.
Nonprofits in our community are responding to the relief and recovery effort in extraordinary ways. Many of their organizations were damaged or destroyed but in spite of this, continue to help others.

About the Flood 2008 Fund
The Flood 2008 Fund of The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation is for flood relief and recovery donations. One-hundred percent of financial donations to the fund will
support Linn County in its recovery from the June 2008 flood. The first priority of the fund is to allocate grants to nonprofit organizations to provide families and 
individuals basic assistance to reestablish stable living after the June 2008 flood.
The fund will support nonprofit organizations in Linn County, Iowa, with ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts throughout the Cedar Rapids-metro and surrounding communities.
The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation will work with organizations that we have a current relationship with and have proven themselves strong administrators of grant funds. The Flood 2008 Fund will be coordinated with other funders and basic service providers to target needs unmet by other sources.
Donations may also be made to the following flood relief and recovery funds administered by The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation:
Berthel Fisher 2008 Flood Relief Fund enables Berthel Fisher employees, retirees, customers, suppliers, and other friends of the company to make financial donations to flood recovery efforts.
Job and Small Business Business Recovery Fund was established by the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce to provide financial assistance through outright grants and 0% interest forgivable loans to a small for-profit business (person or entity that sells goods or services) and/or the owner of commercial property in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that has sustained uninsured physical damage as a result of the Flood of 2008. The Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce will accept applications from and award grants to qualified local businesses with less than 50 full time equivalent employees that intend to reopen and/or rebuild their business in
Rockwell Collins Flood Recovery Fund enables Rockwell Collins employees, retirees, customers, suppliers, and other friends of the company to make financial donations to flood recovery efforts.
Rotary 2008 Flood Relief Fund was established by the seven Cedar Rapids-area Rotary chapters so that Rotarians, both locally and around the world, can help Iowans devastated by the 2008 floods. The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation will administer the Rotary 2008 Flood Relief Fund. The Cedar Rapids Metro Rotary Presidents Committee will advise the Community Foundation on fund distribution, which will go to Linn county nonprofit organizations involved in first response assistance, as well as recovery and relief efforts.
Weitz Company Flood Relief Fund enables Weitz company employees, retirees, customers, suppliers and other friends of the company to make financial donations to flood recovery efforts.
